Chapter 12 The Holy Spirit’s Curriculum
Paragraphs 7, 9 and 11 7… you must look in before you look out. As you look in, you choose the guide for seeing. And then you look out and behold his witnesses. This is why you find what you seek. What you want in yourself you will make manifest, and you will accept it from the world because you put it there by wanting it. When you think you are projecting what you do not want, it is still because you do want it. 9. The power of decision is your one remaining freedom as a prisoner of this world. You can decide to see it right. What you made of it is not its reality, for its reality is only what you give it. 11. When you have accepted your mission to extend peace you will find peace, for by making it manifest you will see it. …As you decide so will you see. And all that you see but witnesses to your decision.

Commentary Cause: I look within and choose my guide Effect: My experience of the world Then, when I look out, I will see/experience either the manifestation of love or the manifestation of fear correspondingly. I choose my guide, and I am therefore solely
responsible for whatever I see and for whatever happens to me. There can be no objective error in the world; it
is entirely subjective. I have the freedom to choose the guide I want. I am always free to change my mind. And as I choose, so will the world change. |
The Course would have me learn peace. The only way to know if I have learned it is to look is to look at my world and ask, “Does my being bring and instill peace?”
“In my presence do my
brothers sense love, acceptance and freedom?”
Whatever I see is what I invited into my mind. It reflects what is within me. This is how I see what is within me, what I have learned. It is essential that I look only at my own experience of the form I look upon, not at appearances or at any ego scripts about it. I look at my own response, my own feeling. My experience of it need not look like what the world deems to be how love should look. I could look at what my brother labels tragedy and see nothing but love. It I feel peace and gentle harmony, that is what lies within me. As I look and touch upon the presence of Love, I will feel a resonance that tells me I am Love drawing Itself to Itself.
